Exhibition Statement:

A Tuning Fork, She’s Looking Out, examines how memory and emotion resonate across time, space, and material. Through layered surfaces, shifting light, and fragmented recollections, Cianfrano, Royer, and Thompson investigate the tension between past and present, presence and absence, and concealment and revelation. The exhibition suggests that, like a tuning fork, our perceptions and histories continue to vibrate, even when unseen.

Wall-bound paintings and sculptural works reverberate personal and collective memory, much like a tuning fork carries a sound beyond its initial strike. The act of “looking out” points toward introspection and external awareness, reflecting how the artists navigate personal narratives, light, and abstraction. Thompson’s explorations of veiling and transparency, Royer’s rearranged timelines, and Cianfrano’s nostalgic imagery engage with how memory and experience are layered, partially obscured, or reinterpreted over time.
